What You Missed This Week in Video Games

"Game On" is The Fly's weekly recap of the stories powering up or beating down video game stocks.

NEW RELEASES: Among this week's notable releases is Square Enix's (SQNXF) "Outriders Worldslayer," an expansion to last year's multiplayer shooter "Outriders." The game launches June 30 for PlayStation 4 (SONY), PS5, Xbox One (MSFT), Xbox Series X/S, Google Stadia (GOOGL), and PC. Also out this week is "Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course," a sequel to 2017's "Cuphead." The game launches on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch (NTDOY), and PC on June 30. In addition, Capcom's (CCOEY) "Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak," an expansion to last year's "Monster Hunter Rise," launches June 30 for Switch and PC.

NINTENDO DIRECT MINI: Nintendo hosted a Nintendo Direct Mini on Tuesday, during which the company showcased games from third-parties coming to the Switch in the near future. During the presentation, the Japanese game giant made the following announcements: Capcom's "Mega Man Battle Network Collection" is coming to Switch in 2023; Bandai Namco's (NCBDY) "Pac-Man World: Re-Pac," a remake of 1999's "Pac-Man World," is launching August 26, 2022; Ubisoft's (UBSFY) "Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope," a sequel to 2017's "Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle," launches October 20, 2022; Square Enix's "Nier Automata," which originally released for PC and PlayStation 4 in 2017, will be coming to Switch on October 6, and; Microsoft's "Minecraft Legends," an action-adventure game in the "Minecraft" franchise, will launch for Switch in 2023. Nintendo closed the showcase with the announcement that multiple games in Sega's (SGAMY) "Persona" franchise will be coming to the Switch, starting with "Persona 5 Royal" on October 21.

OVERWATCH 2: Activision Blizzard's (ATVI) upcoming multiplayer game "Overwatch 2" will fully replace the first "Overwatch" at launch, as director Aaron Keller confirmed in a Reddit thread that the sequel will replace the original live service when it launches this October, IGN's Ryan Leston reported last week. "When OW2 launches on Oct 4th it will be a replacement for the current Live Service," Keller said. The Fly notes that Activision Blizzard agreed to be acquired by Microsoft earlier this year.
